A New Tool to Help Families Navigate Care

We’re introducing a new feature within asnavigators designed to help Australian families better understand healthcare pathways, hospital procedures and aspects of clinical care. Developed in conjunction with our Australian technology partner, Ligantic,  this tool has been built to support families in accessing healthcare information more easily and navigating care with greater confidence.

Importantly, this is a closed system. It does not freely search the internet or pull information from uncontrolled online sources. Instead, it uses information and resources that have been carefully selected and curated through FAST Australia and associated healthcare resources.

This tool is still evolving.

Rather than waiting years to create something “finished”, we wanted to begin building something practical that can grow alongside the community it is designed to support. The questions families ask, including the ones the system cannot yet answer well, will help us continue refining and improving the platform over time.

The tool is designed to support understanding and navigation only. It is not a replacement for clinicians, emergency services or individual medical advice.

We hope it may assist families with:

  • understanding medical terminology
  • helping navigate care
  • accessing healthcare information more easily

Where appropriate, responses may also be periodically reviewed by clinicians or subject matter experts, and users may be notified if updated information becomes available. We also understand that privacy matters deeply to families. Information entered into this tool is only used to support and improve this system itself. Where an email address is collected, it is primarily used to notify users if responses are updated or refined over time. FAST Australia and asnavigators do not seek to identify individuals through their use of the platform, and we aim to minimise the collection of personal information wherever possible.

This is the beginning, not the final product, and we genuinely welcome thoughtful feedback as the platform continues to evolve.

For more detailed information about how the platform works, privacy considerations and the approach behind the project, you can read our full overview here.
