What do people most need to know?

I think my child or patient has Angelman syndrome. What should I do?

If you have concerns about Angelman syndrome, we encourage you to speak with your GP or treating specialist. You can share available diagnostic criteria for Angelman syndrome, including recognised clinical features, to help guide that discussion. A qualified healthcare professional can determine which tests may be appropriate. If you would like general information or help understanding where to find relevant services, you are welcome to contact our team.

What’s the goal of asnavigators?

Our goal is to support families and clinicians by providing general information, navigation assistance and connections to appropriate services involved in Angelman syndrome. We help cut through uncertainty and assist you in finding the supports that may be relevant to your situation.

Do you replace care from my local team?

No. asnavigators does not replace clinical care. We aim to complement the work of your local healthcare providers by sharing general information and, where appropriate, helping connect teams with services across Australia involved in Angelman syndrome.

What age does my child or patient have to be?

asnavigators supports individuals of any age living with Angelman syndrome, as well as their families and care teams. We provide general navigation information relevant to infancy, childhood, adolescence and adulthood.

How do I get an appointment?

Appointments at participating clinics generally require a referral from a GP or specialist. Once you have a referral, we can help you understand where to send it and how to contact the relevant clinic. With your permission, we can also help ensure your local care team is aware of the referral pathway and involved in ongoing communication.
